If you have a fashion addiction like I do, chances are you’re in need of a good spring closet cleaning. Every 6 months or so, I do a wardrobe inventory and get rid of old trends, things I haven’t worn in over a year (unless it’s a classic piece that I can see myself wearing in different weather conditions or has some sort of sentimental value), and stuff I just plain don’t like anymore. I usually end up with a small mountain of items to cart off to Crossroads or list on my Poshmark. After a closet purge, what’s left to do but shop for replacements? 😬 This spring, invest in items that aren’t overly trend driven or seasonal. What’s great about the below, is that they can be styled across different climates and occasions. Check them out:
Though I’m obsessed with the current cat eye craze, you still need a pair that’s going to be wearable regardless of what trends may come and go. These Rayban round sunnies are classics that I’m convinced look good on every face shape. You will not regret investing in these, trust me.
Black Denim Skirt
A twist on the classic denim skirt, I like its black counterpart because it looks better when worn with blue denim jackets (unless you’re into the Canadian tuxedo look, which I’m totally down for sometimes, but this is a little more versatile). This bad boy looks good with legs bared during spring and summer, but also cute with opaque tights and boots in fall.
At this point, I don’t even consider straw bags to be trendy. They’ve been around for so many seasons now in different variations that I can’t imagine they’re going anywhere soon. If you’re worried about straw bags going out of style, go with something more structured (like this box bag from Zara), which mimics a proper handbag rather than a beach bag.
Suede Knee Highs
Aren’t just for fall & winter! When in a lighter color like olive or beige, they’ll look equally as chic with short summery items as with jeans and jackets in colder weather.
Gold Coin Necklace
If you don’t already own one of these, you’re going to want to hurry up and invest in one, stat. Gold jewelry goes perfectly with bronzed skin and breezy spring/summer fashions – coin necklaces in particular.
