A Grown-Up Twist On The Skort

The skort. For me, it conjures up images of painful pre-teen days, worshipping Britney and Destiny’s Child, trying way too hard to not look like the awkward, chubby brown girl I was. Oh, the memories. This 90’s/early 2000’s trend seems to be making a slight comeback – luckily, without the horribly oversized, diaper shaped shorts hiding underneath a printed polyester sack of fabric (which I probably would’ve paired with a shrug – OMG, remember the shrug?). I wonder, will we look back on our fashion choices of today with the same disdain? Probably. But such is life.

Today’s skort has grown up right along with us, and screams ‘I have a real job’, but with a naughty side. I’m obsessed with the boob-high waist on this one, which gives it a bit of a corset look that I love. It can be paired with a vintage tee and sneaks by day, or a plunging bodysuit and killer heels by night. Since I’m not much of a night prowler these days, I’ll settle for bringing some bustier vibes into my casual daytime look.
