It’s that time again, when I start obsessively scrolling through the latest shows that come through on Vogue.com at the start of the global fashion month. It always seems fitting that New York should kick it off, and one collection in particular that I look forward to seeing every season is Proenza Schouler. More often than not, they usually hang out atop my list of favorites (along with Altuzarra most years, and Céline always). It’s been a long winded romance – I’ve been lusting after their PS11 classic shoulder bag for about 7 years now and I’m running out of reasons not to buy it. But one of my favorite parts about their collections are the rich detail shots – which are just as, if not more interesting than the looks in their entirety, in my personal opinion. You can really see how much vision, color, texture, detail and craftsmanship live in each piece – which is why PS is always one of my faves. Lazaro Hernandez says of the new collection, “We took it back to California, to handcraft, women’s lib. But we were thinking about this voyager, picking things up as she goes along. A voyager across borders”. No wonder I’m getting such girl power vibes.
